a new washing machine can be had for £270, installed and with the old washer/dryer recycled; but a new washer/dryer and recycling can't be had for much under £400. given that literally my only use case for a tumble dryer these days is towels (they don't fluff out as well when they're dried on a clothes horse), i'm thinking i might as well save¹ the difference¹ obviously, i mean "immediately spend the difference on something more fun"

i just wish that Argos offered recycling without installation, like they did until just before Christmas; i can install the thing myself, but i have no means to get a washing machine to a recycling point

@thamesynne Hmm very variable by council. I think ao.com do removal when buying new, not sure how much, but I think it's separate from install.
