What are the rules regarding posts about #Piracy on Mastodon? Does it depend on the instance or is there a general stance? I am just curious in general.So far, I haven't seen anything in any instance rules restricting it.

@promovicz I am aware that I can't *host* (or seed) pirated material. But sharing links to other resources that host is not prohibited by law. Which is also why you can download material but it gets tricky when using torrent because then you also seed.

@clipperchip Sure, but it's nice to know that we don't necessarily have to do much or anything on our own instances. And I don't see the general instances cracking down heavily either - unless sharing becomes detrimental or something.

@seb @promovicz That shouldn't be a problem. I don't plan to convert my feed into a warez depository neither would I ever post links to scam/malware sites. Just wanted to make sure I am allowed to link to such sites if it makes sense in a conversation.
