Yet again someone on an iPhone shared photos of my kid with me and they come through as half a megapixel. Is this some default iOS setting to share garbage quality with apps?

@cassidyjames Ive only ever had this issue sharing over SMS. Which sort of makes sense. Otherwise, unless the app itself performs some sort of compression, I typically send the full file.

@zak @cassidyjames I have that problem with iPhone users sharing photos through Messages. The only workaround is to upload to Google Photos and share a link

@scottjenson @zak yeah in this case it has been both via iCloud and Google Photos. One was when they created and shared the album with me, one was when they added them to my shared album. In both cases, they share as literally a half megapixel.

@cassidyjames @scottjenson @zak HEIC kinda sucks too, sharing as a jpeg makes quality worse no matter what, and Apple's conversion is probably intentionally weird :ablobcatattention:
