@tilvidsI saw vulture capital nearly destroy a fortune 500 company, one that kept its market position based on public trust and high-quality service, rather than cheap value. The vultures came in, put in a puppet CEO, the quality went to crap and they lost a lot of business. Oh, and the VCs wrote themselves a billion dollar check based on the company's credit as soon as the deal finalized. Incredible.They've clawed their way out of Chapter 11 now, I hope they're more solid.

This is also why my intention is to eventually follow a similar path for #tilvids and file as a non-profit. We need to see an end to a handful of wealthy financiers controlling the tech landscape, and put control back into the hands of the people that belong to the communities.

@tilvidsMAN, I really want to see that kind of grassroots sufragette (just as an example) kind of movement take off.We're so deep in the reality splinter that I don't have a lot of hope left "in us." (But I want to).I come from the #Evangelical world... some of the crap I've heard absolutely made my head spin. It's one thing to be in the South and just "hate it." It's another thing to be among people you consider friends & watch their minds leap off the rails into oblivion. :/

@RL_Dane It's cliche, but "be the change you want to see". I've almost definitely walked away from a decent revenue stream on YT over the past few years because when my time on this planet is done, it's more important to me that I leave a footprint I can be proud of, rather than grow my wallet a bit while enriching companies that are making this world a worse place to live.

@meganox It's been interesting/educational to watch the world struggle to understand what decentralization/federation is. I completely get it, we were all there once. I have faith that as they learn more about it, they'll get better about talking about it, which will simply accelerate the pace of adoption.

@tilvids @RL_Dane I have the feeling the internet is slowly but surely movibg away from centralized services. Crypto (hate it, love it, I dont care) showed that it is possible to have money decentralized, now Mastodon is showing that social media can be decentralized. Soon more services will be decentralized.
