       Lovely old computer training film posted by @TechConnectify https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hdJQkn8rtA   - and there I am thinking  a) Did the Python creators see this before making indenting part ofhte  language and  b) wondering wth the bitmap like font they used is, it sure feels similar to the BBC Micro font.   c) I wonder if they didn't suggest comments for idylistic reasons of believing they shouldn't be necessary of some other reason#retrocomputing

       @penguin42 @TechConnectify now that you mention Python, one other prominent example where whitespace is significant are Makefiles. The author of the original ‘make’ tool quickly realized that it was a mistake but the tool already had 10  users so he dared not change it.
