       Been in the Uk for a few days. The extent to which the place is coming apart at the seams is alarming. Trains don’t work. Ambulances don’t work. Post doesn’t work. Electricity is a luxury good. It feels like a fairly advanced stage of terminal decline.The answer is a return to social democracy and EU membership, but no political parties are advocating either because trying to halt this decline is, itself, seen as toxic.

       This is not a joke: the party currently leading the UK polls is doing so on the basis that its leader is promising better managed decline.

       @goatsarah the weirdest part is the mass denial. Even from non-brexiteers: "things aren't that bad" - I know the frog in the pan doesn't feel the temperature increasing but it's super weird arguing with people that things are crap and them going "it's the same everywhere" (it's not) and "it's just that supermarket you were in that doesn't have choices, not all of them".
