Ok, so I just moved to my own server.I’m astonished at how painless it was.I understand there’s a federated Facebook-alike too.If ISPs start offering federated social media servers to their customers, like they do email, it could finish the privacy stealing, data harvesting big social media monoliths. There would be no need to use them any more. It would just be a service, like email, with no ulterior motive.God, I hope it comes to pass.

Pretty much just been told that the reason UK political parties tolerate trabsphobia in their ranks at the expense of their own trans members is because TERFs are more litigious than we are. We aren’t scary enough.All the times we were told to play nicely, it seems we were playing far too nicely.

Fusion power is the hyper loop of renewable energy: tech bros love it because it’s “tech”, but it’s expensive, practically impossible to make work, and there is already functioning (and therefore boring) better tech available.

Been in the Uk for a few days. The extent to which the place is coming apart at the seams is alarming. Trains don’t work. Ambulances don’t work. Post doesn’t work. Electricity is a luxury good. It feels like a fairly advanced stage of terminal decline.The answer is a return to social democracy and EU membership, but no political parties are advocating either because trying to halt this decline is, itself, seen as toxic.

Many creative types are deeply worried about the threat to their livelihoods posed by AI bots. But given AI bots excel mainly at generating large amounts of decently written, plausible sounding bullshit, the ones who have lost to fear are journalists 😉
