Also, the concept of gift giving, if I remember correctly, was a pagan tradition along with trees and the other trappings, but it was far more functional, in that you would give say, a new jacket that you made to your brother, whose jacket had worn out, or something similar, it didn't involve maxing out your credit card on video game consoles. My mom would take me to the store and just say "pick something under 20 bucks for Santa to bring you for Christmas." I'd pick it out and watch her buy it, drive home, wrap it in front of me, put it in the her closet until I'd watch her take all that stuff out to put under the tree. I knew "meeting Santa" was a dress-up thing because my own grandfather was Santa for some events. I had a sort of backwards Santa Moment. Around the age of 7, I realized I had friends that actually truly thought Santa was real, and I thought that was the wildest stupidest thing I'd ever heard. My mom told me you weren't supposed to break the secret to the Santa believers because it was a matter of them getting smart enough to figure it out themselves. I was also raised purely atheist, literally didn't know the first thing about Christ, but my mom said "just tell people you're Catholic." I had a few situations where kids could not believe I had never been to church. I'm mostly glad I wasn't raised with religion. I think a lot of people never put any thought into their faith and just coast by. That type of faith -a child's level of understanding- is easily broken if not further developed.

My dad who was catholic wanted me to believe. My mom who was Pentecost went along with it; but initially didn't want me to believe in Santa. They made a pretty convincing go of it for years. However, my grandfather who was a pastor as well as my mother would always do a lot to preach to me about God, and always encouraged me to ask questions. (All this is just simplifying it) But to make a long post a little shorter, they really tried to give me a spiritual foundation more than anything so I was never just one of the kids you mentioned thankfully.

While i generally agree, the original tales of St Nicholas were very different than the materialism of modern Christmas. Like with most things, it has gone too far and thus jaded people to its origins. There is a lot of Christianity in the spirit of family, love, and giving surrounding Christmas that has been replaced by a modern desire for material goods.

MK is a huge reason (probably the biggest reason, with Jeremy Soule following close behind) why Morrowind is my favorite of the TES games.If he had wanted to, yes, Bethesda should have allowed him to continue on other TES games. (Though I could understand if he might have wanted to move on to other stuff.) But at least they still took stuff he wrote after leaving Bethesda and incorporated them into the games - giants painting mammoths, the reference to c0da, etc. - showing that stuff he wrote afterwards is still important to the lore.

Nice cinematic, but I want to see gameplay.Found its Steam page, and some of the first screenshots in there remind me of Privateer's Hold in Daggerfall. Some of the housing screenshots remind me of the empty attics in Daggerfall, too. Those, and the screenshot of what appears to be a cemetery gate in a hedge wall, I'm getting strong Daggerfall vibes from this, and that's not a bad thing to me. (As long as Ted and Julian leave the bugginess behind them. I remember when Bethesda had to add those teleport waypoints for that one dungeon near the end of the game. That was rough.)

My first ES game was Morrowind for the Xbox, and when I learned about Modding I resolved years later to get it for the PC. Then I learned the older games were free now in playable versions, and now I'm having a blast. Though Morrowind Modding has reached a standstill for me, as several conflicts occurred that broke my game and every attempt to get the core game, wrye mash (polemos fork), and the other mods installed without the help of Vortex has completely gone to shit since windows decided that I no longer had admin privileges even though I am listed as the admin and have done everything to try and be recognized as the admin. Fuck Bill Gates, I swear... When I get a better work schedule, I'm going to try again. But until then, I'm giving Morrowind a break and digging into Daggerfall more while I wait.

I think I've heard that Unity fixed some bugs, including one that I used to abuse all the time: creating an altmer (immune to paralysis) who had a critical weakness to paralysis, so I could get extra points to spend. The racial immunity overrode the critical weakness, so it was bonus points without the drawbacks.

@darniil @Platinum @n3f_X @merchantHelios Unity fixed a shit ton of bugs, and also added a shit ton of content, while opening the door for easier modding. I think it's still ongoing too, with intent to finish out the original vision for the game. It's really fucking cool, and it rounds out beautifully when you add in the various other mods for the game.
