@TetZoo @idoubtit Is it a people problem (interactions, who is using it) or a Mastodon problem (features such as quote tweeting)?The latter can be fixed with different software at least. (Example: The Pleroma instance I am on has a >16000 character limit per post rather than Mastodon's weird hard coded 500 characters)

@john @idoubtit @mickwest At the moment, I don't have mastodon on my phone -- which makes a difference, since I do a lot of tweeting from there. I also admit that I'm still committed to the sunk time fallacy. I've spent SO much time building stuff at twitter that now spending time here as well (since I can't yet leave twitter) feels redundant....

@TetZoo @john @idoubtit @mickwest You don't need the Mastodon app on your phone to use Mastodon, it works well in any mobile browser. That's how I use it on mobile (but I mainly use my laptop).

@TetZoo @john @idoubtit @mickwest You could encourage your Twitter followers to make the move to Mastodon with you. People follow you because they find what you have to say interesting. If you say it on Mastodon instead of Twitter, and your Twitter followers know it, they'll follow you here. They won't want to miss out. It won't happen immediately but it won't be like building up your audience from scratch.

@john @TetZoo @idoubtit @mickwest I second the recommendation of Tusky.Agree with Darren about the lack of information being frustrating, I'm aware that it's a different audience here and want to temper how I'm doing things to that. It's probably different for me though as the interaction's what drives me to do it - it's not related to my job, I'm not a writer, the most I've got out of any of this is a beer and a poke around a submarine.

@john I don't miss stats either. Is Tusky only for Android? I'm not seeing it on the iphone store. I'm actually worried in short order there will be TOO many phone apps and I won't be able to decide which one is best to use.

@TetZoo @john @idoubtit @mickwest I see this doesn't fully solve your problem with Twitter being where the conversation is still happening (to some degree), but you can set up services like Moa that automatically copy your Mastodon posts to Twitter (rather than having to manually do it).In theory, you can also do the inverse: post to twitter and have it clone to Mastodon. There's a general feeling on here that this isn't great, but I'd take that over not hearing your news, personally 😉
