I am so so pleased with this piece! Had the urge to just get lost in feathers and scales and I'm very proud of the result - a fuzzy Utahraptor. #paleoart #dinosaurs

@KakapoJay Do you have a tip on drawing feathers? When I do it in things like this it ends up looking more like scales: https://hardeshur.blogspot.com/2022/10/syncarpus.html?m=1

@TKSivgin Hi! I had the same issue with feathers until recently - I got some great advice from Jed Taylor at TetZooCon which was to focus less on the shape of each individual feather, and instead hint at an overall feathery coat using light and shadow - for example, for this one, I laid down a messy dark colour over the whole animal, and then just went in with a light colour and sort of picked out highlights where I think the feathery coat would catch the light. I hope this helps!
