Yes I am absolutely certain that the public perception around a rail strike near the holidays would be The Greedy Workers Ruining ChristmasPart of the fun of coming up in a largely customer/public service background is realizing that being told “No” over relatively minor manners of consumption is effectively carte blanche for you to be the target of verbal abuse, physical assault, or outright putting you in a state where you’re 90% sure someone’s about to fucking kill you

Yes I’m consciously aware that chemicals crucial to water disinfection are transported via railMaybe we should treat the people who transport that stuff with the respect they deserve? Just a hot take tbh.

Fuck me if the parcel delivery services and the railroads went on strike around the holidays you’d have to install an FAA-approved strobe on my resulting *redacted*

@RainierBeringer I mean you have a point. If I were striking, I'd go dark until the holidays were over, then have all of us strike at once. I'd tell the company I'll work because Christmas is coming, I won't agree to any of their demands, and they'll bar me from working since I didn't agree, but that's better PR since it's them doing it. Silent strikes, where you agree in public, but refuse to work without pay in private might be a better tactic.

@RainierBeringer Like I heard from the MSM the other day a heartwarming tale of how some good people saw the evil FedEx driver dumping packages on the side of the road. They then delivered all the packages personally, out of the goodness of their heart, without being paid. The article failed to mention that the driver wasn't getting paid either. But stuff like that makes things... less certain for the upper echelons in a corporation.
