One of the brokerage groups we trade with sent my trading desk a case of this stuff and I snagged a bottle. Is this any good @Johncdvorak?I've heard that reds with 'Russian River Valley' on the label are typically at least decent, but I know nothing of wine.Should I keep it or is it just a house wine type of bottle?

@NBS Rated 93 (out of 100).Probably is fine now but could use maybe 5 years of aging. The rating is of the unaged wine....My usual problem is I either drink it right away or it gets stored for way too many years. But that's just me.

@mhjohnson I may have to just store it for a few years then, but I'm pleasantly surprised at 93/100. Far better than my usual red, that's for sure.

@NBS My usual red is a 1.5L bottle of a name brand Merlot. I've found they are often as good as the smaller bottles at half the price (by volume). Surprised the family with one of those before Thanksgiving. But then I'm an old guy in retirement. What do I know.

@mhjohnson I'll have to give the 1.5L options a chance, haven't tried one in a long time. My go to option J.Lohr Cabernet Sav is fancy enough for me, and at $15 on sale it's worth it.I'll pick up a 1.5L red next time. Any suggestions? Any name brand?

@NBS @mhjohnson Jacob's Creek (Australian) was pretty reliable for me.

@NBS The one I surprised the family with was CK Mondavihttps://www.ckmondavi.comThe 1.5L merlot was under $10.Yeah - you have heard of Robert Mondavi. This is the other part of the family (4th generation) and named after Cesare Mondavi. Rated high 80s, low 90s over the years. But I'll buy Woodbridge, Barefoot, Yellowtail, and a variety of imports.

@NBS @Johncdvorak 2019 was kind of a rough year for that area, but yeah it's going to be a real nice bottle. dont save it, just drink it slowly and enjoy it.The best part about well made wine is they don't have to be drank in a few days or a week like the cheaper stuff. They just mellow after a week or so and get slightly sweeter, but wont begin break down for around 2 weeks, provided you put the cork in deep enough of course. https://www.forbes.com/sites/tomhyland/2019/02/22/emeritus-vineyards-russian-river-valley-pinot-noirs-of-great-esteem/?sh=70fc0c0c4862

@NBS pretty package. I'd put aside for a couple of years then you tell me
