       The new PCBs are here! Had to depanel them and remove mousebites, but I figured out a technique to sand four at a time pretty quickly.And they do tile! a 4x4 grid is pretty massive 😅 #theWorkshop

       @pvh @s_ol not sure how much experience you have with isomorphic keyboards, but there are all sorts of layouts! harmonic table and wicki hayden are probably the most popular, but the possibilities are literally infinite

       the technique is basically just holding them all flush together, but I couldn't hold them steady enough so the stack would rock forwards and backwards, so that the edges of the boards become a kind of sawtooth shape temporarily. I figured out eventually that I could clamp them against a cylindrical glass bottle as a 90deg reference to steady my hand, I guess in the lab just hoding them in the vice would've worked even better.

       oh, and I completed the first black MDF case test with its bottom plate.I thought the contrast would be too much but I actually really dig it, probably more than the oiled MDF? I didn't do a great jib taking pictures, bet it actually retains most of the grain quality, it's just a lit more subtle.wdyt? should I be trying 'real colors' next? suggestions? palettes are really not my thing 😬

       @pvh @s_ol i like the harmonic table enough to build a physical instrument  (assuming "physical" means "hardware" and not "acoustic"). the chords are super ergonomic, and it feels like i can play almost anything on it. my right hand makes some weird contortions in the linked video, but usually only for chords that need 2, or even 3 hands to play on a standard piano keyboard.https://youtu.be/3rMnPkrgoP4

       @pvh @s_ol that being said, wicki hayden is really nice for melodic playing, and i think thats because the pentatonic notes are very prominent and easy to remember. there are some things that are easier to play on one layout or the other, and its really easy to switch between them. however, i have yet to find a hexagonal layout that i can play flight of the bumblebees on (though, to be fair, i cant play it on piano either)
