       New recipe:- store some #qubits in tiny superconducting circuits- shake with care & play- generate a #wormhole - teleport (#quantum) #information through it-😮📄Paper: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-022-05424-3📺17' video explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOJCS1W1uzg#QuantumComputing

       @manlius how are qubits implemented on this type of qc?

       @FroehlichMarcel @manlius Really hard to read... looks like a simulation to me. "Here, we study the dynamics of traversable wormholes through a many-body simulation of an SYK system of N fermions"

       @manlius @kraweel65 It is not a simulation, it is a physical duality. Two different physical descriptions of the same thing. The experimental demonstration is considered a proof of this duality, that Susskind and Maldacena conjectured in 2013.

       @FroehlichMarcel @manlius Ah! The power of theoretical physics! "demonstrate the experimental realization of traversable wormhole dynamics on nine qubits with 164 two-qubit gates on the Google Sycamore processor"

       @FroehlichMarcel it should be superconducting qubits based on electric currents that flow through superconducting materials

       @kraweel65 @FroehlichMarcel @manlius There are now conflicting opinions out there, whether this is 'real' or not.

       @kraweel65 @FroehlichMarcel @FrohlichMarcel I think the only conflict is in headlines, not in the paper.Nobody can question the experimental result, but surely it’s not the wormhole of the movie “Contact” that could be used to reach Vega in a few minutes…

       @manlius @kraweel65 @FroehlichMarcel Well, @johncarlosbaez says that no wormhole has been created with the experiment.

       @FrohlichMarcel @kraweel65 @FroehlichMarcel @johncarlosbaez I don't feel I am an expert, but one thing is the headlines another thing is the paper.A quantum simulator allows to study a quantum system in a programmable way. So it's not like a classical simulation on a laptop, AFAIK: here you have a physical system evolving according to natural laws while following a program. And the wormhole?

       @FrohlichMarcel @kraweel65 @FroehlichMarcel @johncarlosbaez well, the programmed quantum physical system corresponds, Via a duality, to a 2D model of spscetime. Did they claim it's a wormhole that can be used for spacetime travel? Of course not.They have shown that it is possible to transmit simple information, through this filament of space time. Where is the issue?

       @manlius @FrohlichMarcel @kraweel65 @johncarlosbaez I don't see an issue when working on a 2D model  :)

       @FroehlichMarcel @FrohlichMarcel @kraweel65 @johncarlosbaez sure!Does it day nothing about our universe? I don't think so.Where the authors claimed so? Because if it's just the headlines.. Well.. They are journalists. I didn't see the authors making that claim in the paper, but I had no time to read word per word with attention (and again, I don't feel I am an expert, I just follow the topic since I was a student)

       @dev_d237 It is not a wormhole in space, as the experiment used only a 2D model of space.
