       I think Xi Jinping just gave Twitter a lifeline. #ChinaProtests #socialmedia #twittermigration

@nitin I don't know, Twitter fumbled the ball. Overwhelmed and fired all it's staff. Pro-chinese spam overwhelming the skeleton crew:https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/11/27/twitter-china-spam-protests/

wapo says that twitter is botching moderation, they claim this is because they know these protests are popular and therefore there should be more results. this seems rather hopeful by them. several more likely possibilities exist:1. the protests are not as popular as wapo would like us to believe 2. the hooker ads are just hooker ads it would hardly be the first time that, when something is trending, people run ads against it.

So let me get this straight, WaPo is upset because the posts from their journalists are getting buried under a mountain of ads for ... whores who pretend not to be whores.I may be going out on a limb, but I think there is a tiny chance that perhaps they might be getting made fun of here.

Let me explain#ChinaProtests are getting worldwide coverage because of people tweeting photos and videos. Engagement is likely to be shooting in. This is the lifeline Xi is giving Twitter. But…Beijing might lean on Musk to block handles. If Musk agrees (not least because his other business interests are on the line), the anti-Twitter sentiment will only strengthen.

@nitin @adam speculated on #NoAgenda that Elon may even be removing engineers because he doesn't need them since I think it was TenCent that is a major investor in another venture of his and will just plug their WeChat code into Twitter. He may have picked up the phone to buy Twitter in the first place.
