Mastodon really should have a way to suppress duplicate boosts (by different people) of the same post.

@mansr It has that (the "group boosts" option in the settings), except what it means is that there at least 40 posts between two subsequent boosts of the same post. So... not ideal nowadays.https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/blob/f17fc5742e539db10e0e430f5218c440849b894c/app/lib/feed_manager.rb#L15

@mansr you can filter individual posts to achieve this?

@sqrt2 I already have that enabled, still keep seeing the same thing boosted many times. 40 posts is far to short a cut-off. It needs to be something like a week regardless of number of intervening posts.

@mansr "Let's store whether a particular post was delivered to a user's timeline for a month, for every post, for every user": not going to happen.

@sqrt2 That's probably true, but I can still grouse about it. Hiding boosts of posts by people I already follow ought to be feasible, though.

@mansr agree. There are some posts (I also boosted) that continue to come out over and over again.
