Well, that was a first.I was "offline" for a while. It took me 30 minutes to realise that my 16-port hardware switch crashed.Who knew?

@fitheach criminy, never heard of a switch crashing before. I've reset the modem and the router many times, but my (8 port) switch has been quietly ticking along for a decade.

@fitheach Interesting, thanks. Most of the reviews are in Italian. :)

@geekbrit Well, exactly the same here. That's why I didn't think about it immediately. Once I tried everything else, it was the only thing left.

@fitheach My own 16 port swx is normally hidden by propping up my keyboard on an angle and it doubles as a monitor stand. One day its wall plug had come out and I wondered for a while what had gone wrong!I've never known one to 'crash' though. I for one, did NOT know.

@gemlog I've had this switch for 10 years, or more. never had a problem before. I hope it isn't on its way out.Mine has a 2kg weight on top. The type used in old-fashioned scales. The weight of the ethernet cables would otherwise pull the switch off the table.

@fitheach In the 80s I installed a LOT of supermarkets and I dragged around a box of scaled weights to calibrate with. Consumer and Corporate Affairs Canada was so close behind me, you'd have thought I'd grown a tail! :-)
