       @thatonecalculator@stop.voring.me @StargazerBird@cyberfurz.social This, and also software on fedi generally tries to work together as best as possible.For instance, if I use the quote post feature, you will still see i, but instead of the original post there's a link to the post I quoted at the end of my post.On the flip side, Mastodon has favorites and Misskey has emoji reactions, which are technically quite different. But I will still see your favorites because it gets translated into a ⭐ emoji reaction for me. (Inversely, any emoji reaction from me becomes a favorite for you).

       @volpeon @thatonecalculator @StargazerBird also worth remembering that there are fediverse programs that do things _other_ than microblogs, and they all can interact with each other to an extentfor example, peertube is used to upload videos and livestreamsi can use my mastodon account to follow a peertube channel, and it will work as a "subscription" in that i will see that channel's new videos in my feed. i can even, and sorry for borrowing a tired youtuber term, "smash that bell" in my mastodon web app or client and get notifications for new stuffif i make a response to a peertube video using mastodon, it will show up as a comment below the video

       @volpeon @thatonecalculator so in order to be able to use these features I need to make a new account on a new app that I can’t log into with the Mastadon application… that just seems overly convoluted.

       @StargazerBird @volpeon @thatonecalculator That's because you're looking at it from the wrong angle. It's not "one" platform like Twitter or Instagram. It's software that each instance owner has installed on their own server. The owners have the code. It's like have a website on your own server, just that this website can talk to other websites.If one feels confident enough to change the software/code, one can change that. Adjust one's own website.

       @volpeon Hmm, is it possible to react with multiple reactions on one message?If so, I'm guessing all of the different reactions from one account shows up as a single favorite?

       @NeoFox@furry.engineer Misskey only allows 1 reaction so there's no problem here. Pleroma and Akkoma support multiple emoji reactions, but they also have a favorite function so they don't need to bother mapping reactions to favorites AFAIK
