So, I have stood up a "flagship" instance of Takahē, mostly because if I'm going to have an account for it, it needs to be running it: https://takahe.social/@takahe@jointakahe.org/Also that server is living proof of multiple domain support, if you check its frontpage list of users!

@andrew Still can't follow it (at least from @Tusky) but excited that this is taking shape :)

@bmgnrs @astrojuanlu Yup, that's because I didn't implement the "outbox" yet (that lets a server grab posts from before you followed)

@andrew> lets a server grab posts from before you followedMastodon doesn't do this at all, at least not on this instance. Here be dragons ;)Can I suggest limiting this by default to either the last X posts, or posts in the last X days? This will keep a lid on both storage requirements on the following instance, and server load on both the instance the follow request is coming from, and Takahē instance itself.@bmgnrs @astrojuanlu

@Tusky @astrojuanlu @andrew I just managed to follow both accounts from the Metatext iOS app running against my personal Mastodon 4.0 server - I had to type the full @takahe ID into the search bar in the app to do it

@simonIn FediLab on a Masto 4.0 instance I was able to click through from the @mention in @andrew's OP, and follow @takahe in the usual way. @astrojuanlu

@andrewWould you consider adding another item to your longer term roadmap? Implementing the C2S API in the AP spec, as well as Mastadon's bespoke C2S API? @cwebber can existing better than I can the potential benefits of this.

@strypey @cwebber I've read the formal C2S spec and while I appreciate it, it does seem to be... missing several things you'd need for a full client experience? Is there a client that uses it already?

@andrewProtocol implantations is well above my paygrade ;) But my layperson's understanding is that the AP spec lays out a minimum set of conditions for compatibility, like the XMPP core spec does. Functions can then be built on top of these foundations, either in standardized extensions (eg XEPs in the XMPP world) or in whatever roll-your-own ways make sense for the servers you want your app to work with (eg the Mastodon API).@cwebber
