Ugh... throbbing pain in my upper back, that's not just soreness. I should have my 20 year old children here helping me put up the lights, but no I just get to die alone in a tent with no children at all. Fuck this world, fuck this entire existence, and fuck you all. #fml

@cy very hopeful of you to assume your kid a) will still be living at home at age 20 and b) won’t put you in a home 😂

@22goingon23 No that's part of my protest. We shouldn't leave our parents in the dust like they say all the cool kids do. Moving away for no reason, for "independence."

@cy lol moving away does not mean leaving them in the dust lol you can still visit and call/text them every day. You don’t have to live in the same house to feel close to them.

@22goingon23 You can't see them in the morning when you wake up. You can't make breakfast together. You can't work together to make your home a better place. If people didn't move away from the place they live so much, you could actually count on them being there when you needed them. You wouldn't be calling them feeling like an annoyance as they drown themselves in consumerism and corporations. You would be part of their lives. Why not live in the same house, jeez...

I think what I mean when I'm not a total emotional wreck is we've been living where we were born for so many millions of years that our minds and bodies are fine tuned to work optimally in that setup, and that's the very reason we've all been tricked into moving away. We create emotional wrecks and destroy communities in our wake, and that make us docile slaves for colonialist, industrialist, capitalist investors. Guys who never meet any girls and die alone aren't... good at resisting.

But uh "natural" is not necessarily good. My problem is that modern society was designed deliberately to make us vulnerable to slavery. If you can redesign modern society so that we get our needs met and can resist oppression, and we can also go moving all over the place and forget about growing up with people, that's fine too. My problem is that things known to hurt us are being held as virtues, and we can't internalize that and dismiss any protests as people who hate progress.
