       As much as some think structure is theoretically a good idea, the reality is if you spend a few weeks yelling sense into some struggling kids and then pack them back home into the same environment that's not really going to be effective, is it?People can't build strong communities moving rental to rental instead of settling in a home. It takes a village...but we let the villages break.

       @hilarymcam I've had young folk from similar defense force camps end up in my clinic because the constant yelling triggered PTSD from serious abuse at home. These camps are not only not evidence based, they're actively harmful.

       @mikeythenurseWhat do you mean...> These camps are not only not evidence based... they're based on a boatload of evidence that 'tough on crime' rhetoric wins votes, and that the camps (and imprisonment in general) produces more crime, which keeps such rhetoric working. The fact that the policy also produces a healthy crop of clients for future of privatized mental health services and prisons is just a bonus.The NatACTs know exactly what they're doing :/@hilarymcam
