@TarnishedYarmulke i mean there are alot of opinions, and especially strong ones about init systems, but as long as your distribution doesn't install snapd, you're doing okay.

@TarnishedYarmulke Mint is good. I used it for a while both with the Ubuntu base and the Debian edition. The app store is fairly comprehensive and the update process is fairly good. If you're going to dual boot use a physically separate drive from Windows. Windows doesn't play nice with other OSs on the same drive as itself. Are you using cutting edge hardware or is your PC a couple years old or more? Do you have an Invidia GPU?

@TarnishedYarmulke Before you nuke the Windows drive, you might want to create some live usbs of various distros and desktop environments and play with those for a while (without installing) to see what you like and how it works on that hardware. If there is specific software you want to run, most will run in any distro although you might have to use a universal package manager to install instead of using the distro's repository. But there are exceptions so you'll want to check if any must have software requires a specific distro or if it isn't available in some distros.Currently my favorite distro is Fedora with the Plasma desktop environment.
