We're trying out a thing at #appsignal :appsignal: : our own Mastodon instance. We're hoping that people who follow/used to follow us on Twitter and are leaving will follow @appsignal to keep up with the #ruby, #elixir, and #nodejs articles we publish at https://blog.appsignal.com/So far, I have zero clues whether company accounts work on Mastodon. Trying this on our own instance seemed like the least-spammy method (requires a follow, won't show up on any instance's local timeline). Thoughts?

@roy @appsignal would your company instance just be for the official account(s), or do you imagine employees would have accounts their too? I imagine the latter would get complicated as people move around

Somewhat related to this: we spent quite some $ on Twitter ads to increase our content's reach, with pretty good results. We've decided to stop funding them as soon as Elno came barging in, but dirty as this may sound: eyeballs count. Our articles are a good driver for next-step actions.

@roy @appsignal @james I have two accounts tho. One for general things. This one for Ruby.I can imagine even employees can use their employer-provided account for tooting in the progressional sphere. And then use another for personal things.

@james @michiels We'll stick with just the official ones. Right now, only @appsignal, but later, maybe also accounts like @status@appsignal.social. I don't think we'll have personal accounts but will share the official ones.
