Telling her to get back to a shitty paid job, where she cannot pump milk even if she wanted to, and she cannot get promoted because that's all a fucking lie that there's room for advancement within the company - all because that's the "feminist" choice according to some internet troll, is cruel. You don't know what cards a mom has been dealt. She may choose to seek paid employment after a baby reaches a certain age, or start a home business. Not that I see anything wrong with women who prefer to get back to work, but I personally feel very fortunate that I’m able to be with my children. Childcare is outrageously expensive and a lot of the couples I know where they both work, they’re barely breaking even considering the cost of daycare. There’s also the whole, you can never trust a stranger as much as a parent, thing. I’ll never send my children anywhere without me until they’re old enough to tell me if something happens to them, and I’m grateful that I’m in a position to feel that way. My sister was the opposite, she had her kids and went back to work while her husband at the time stayed home. She preferred it that way. I think another major factor is also that men typically have more earning power. Whether right or wrong, that’s just the way it is. Speaking for myself, I’ll never regret or resent the time I’ve been blessed with to spend with my kids. They’re only little for so long.

After that, home care support or child care should be made available to those who want it. When I was small, my mother worked and my father was/worked at home. It worked fine, until my father got sick. He was a perfectly good stay-at-home parent until being sick over time brought out his worst qualities. I also know of many women who were wholeheartedly looking forward to going back to work and spending time with people-who-aren’t-children. It wasn’t a question of not wanting to look after their kids, it was about needing something else in their lives beyond just child and house care. *I’m talking genuinely extensive, like past the child’s first birthday extensive. That alone would reduce this argument considerably, I think.

@AbolishPregnancy @Ladyfat @Mynona most mothers will fight to the death over their children, like every other animal in nature will, thats not training, and you feel it once you have grown that baby and done everything in your power to keep it alive. Its part of you, its not something you have to be trained to do, or evolution would have meant the planet would be minus humans - probably a lot healthier for it for all the other life on the planet.
