I’m happy with the self-hosted Bitwarden instance I have but out of curiosity, what password manager do you use and why?

@arh pass, but good luck searching for it without the domain: https://www.passwordstore.org/It just works and it has minimal dependencies.

@arh None because there's no need - https://jxself.org/password-generator.shtml "You also need never fear the loss or corruption of your password database, have to deal with backing it up, etc. since there isn't one. You can also always regenerate your passwords from anywhere using standard programs."

@jxself The problem with such mechanism is that the first part of all your passwords is always identical and the second part is something easy to get, like a list of domains - thus rainbow tables go brrr.Ideally, you should be fine if you pick a good enough salt, but if your salt ever gets compromised, then an attacker can figure out every last one of your passwords for everything with a bit of effort.

@Mek101 never liked it. Password managers have features like storing encrypted notes and or having multiple fields per entry.
