@ageha @feld @spcpro3022 you don't have to interact with the network in any way to use it, it's just a public key system that people actually use and isn't a confusing mess.

@spcpro3022 yeah ipfs sites for dapps works great, only real problem is that people rely on third-party gateways to bridge https to ipfs because browsers don't natively support it.

@Moon @spcpro3022 @ageha Don't you dream of never having to fill out your name, bio, email, profile photo, etc on websites ever again? You see a site you want to use, you just sign a message with your wallet to login and they can pull that data automagically for you. Zero friction.Join us. Be free.

@ageha @Moon @spcpro3022 it was awful because they controlled the on/off switch for your login across the entire internet(and obviously you'd use different wallets for different aliases)

@ageha @feld @spcpro3022 it trivially does multiple identities that cannot be correlated (like, not enumerable etc). no data except the public key is stored on a remote server unless you put it there. you'd sign in to a site and if it asked for data you would instruct your browser to fill it in.i don't think it should be used everywhere but it makes sense in some places

@ageha @Moon @spcpro3022 sub-addresses under the same wallet. nobody knows it's tied to your main wallet.

@ageha @Moon @spcpro3022 why would you ever need a recovery email when you can't forget your password because there isn't one

@ageha @feld @spcpro3022 the difference between this tool and tools like password manager is you can pick your level of security. if you want to upload your passphrase to a webdav server or something and make your wallet load from that, you would be able to (i mean in theory, nobody does that, but it could be implemented). if you are paranoid about it, you don't put your passphrase anywhere. on a technical level the wallets are more secure than passwords. i understand your hesitation and you may not want to utilize the maximum level of security, AND the current wallets aren't as good as they COULD be, but I think something like this is the future.

@ageha @Moon @spcpro3022 well it's a good thing you won't have your wallet in your hard drive because you'll be using a hardware wallet because you don't want to be hackedIn fact, own multiple and set them up with the same seeds so they're identical and now you have backups.(I have like 5)

@ageha @feld @spcpro3022 a seed phrase to derive all your private keys is made of 12 words from a common collection of words, where the first three letters of each word is used.

@ageha @feld the key that is used to generate an infinite number of identities is made up of words arranged so they are fairly memorizable and difficult to transcribe incorrectly.

@Moon @ageha e.g.,abstract deer wide marble window trust sleep mother hobby pony farm aisle prevent chunk hazard section chat tennis pupil century rival fantasy ecology truckremember those 24 words in that order or save them somewhere (in order) and you'll always have access to your walletthat's a real seed phrase that could link to a wallet with coins in it (like, 1 in a trillion chance tho haha)technically the spec only uses the first 4 letters of every word but it doesn't matter

@ageha should be secure since the pw manager is making a new one for each site, so it does bypass the typical problem with passwords which is reuse since you're sharing it with a third party every time you use it. but strictly speaking yes an ssh key is more secure than an ssh password

@ageha yeah i understand. right now the thing is actually a crypto wallet but i think it will eventually evolve into being a credentials wallet that can also do crypto if you want to.

@Moon@shitposter.club @ageha@tomo.airen-no-jikken.icu @feld@bikeshed.party @spcpro3022@shitposter.club It's still not good though. It is way too complicated for normies to actually use, and way too brittle as well. Single key identities means that your identity will die, because no key lives forever.I have like half of a cryptosystem thought out in my mind, but I can't find the motivation to actually write down my ideas and work on them.
