not much of my daily life looks like the traditional lifestyle of the Sámi indigenous people, and i do not know the language.but i saw a lot of Sámi "elements" during my upbringing.shoes made from reindeer fur.common attitudes among the Sámi.some elements of the Sámi vocal melody on old VHS recordings of me speaking as a toddler.it's about 15-20% of my identity. it's feels wrong to shed it entirely.it feels like it's something that shaped me. so i root for it, a little...

@thor Reindeer fur... Have you ever seen a truly white reindeer? In a book I'm reading... not sure from where the legend originates, but there is a white stag, and in the series, he's called the Lord of the North. Is that based upon you guys?

@cambridgeport90 hmmwhite?well, the reindeer have many shades.sometimes, unfortunately, the shade of gray blends PERFECTLY with the asphalt, so you almost run into them with the car...but also, sometimes, they're almost blending in with the snow.the shades vary a lot.

@thor Gorgeous. Deer of any kind are some of the most majestic and amazing creatures. Reindeer are larger than normal deer, though, aren't they? (which is why I love the Norse legend of Chris Cringle over the Americanized one.)

@cambridgeport90 the traditional idea of the "nisse" (bearded red man who visited your house) was a little spooky.some small children cried when your weird uncle showed up in the santa mask.but if you were a good kid and set out some porridge for the gnome, you'd be okay.
