now, allow me to dismantle this idea that pale skin colour makes you the oppressor, and that darker skin colour makes you human scum.white Norwegian people oppressed Sami indigenous people.they subjected them to Nazi level stuff.they actively tried to kill Sami language and culture as a part of official policy.our skin colours were both pale.yet the Sami were considered trash and undesirable.so, dismiss "black" from your thinking. pale-skinned people can be assholes to each other too.

@thor You're not very familiar with the mental gymnastics of the social-justice woke crowd, are you? You see, by definition indigenous people cannot be white, and white people cannot be indigenous or a minority. As such, clearly the Sámi are a people of color, even if they look blonde white, because they are an oppressed minority. And the Norwegians are the oppressing colonials, because they are white and the majority.

@thor The trick is that you need to understand that "white", "black" etc. are no longer descriptions of skin color. They are ideological labels. There's a reason you see usages of capitalized White or Black. White is everything the religion deems is White. If the religion finds use in labeling the Sámi as an oppressed people, to use them in a fight against the Norwegian majority, then the Sámi basically become ideologically Black, while the Norwegians are White.

@thor@berserker.town Sami do have a minority of east Asian ancestry (as do Finns) but they mostly have the same genetics as nordic people, that is Western European Hunter-Gatherer and Ancestral North Eurasian. In fact they have a TON of WHG I believe. They ARE very Nordic.

'Racism' is usually just a convenient tool of the powerful. #Oppression exists in all societies so it's no surprise that it also exists between cultures ('race' is an unscientific term).

Science is very legalistic with categories.They actually "rediscovered" racial categories from the 1800's and just called them something different (example: they call "caucasoid" West Eurasian.).Yes it doesn't go by skin color in a vacuum, of course.
