@realcaseyrollins @esdin @AaronZA @AaronZA@mastodon.gamedev.place This is exactly what I'm doing at the moment but I'd like to consolidate. I'm evaluating some alternative clients to see if I can view specific community timelines from a single account rather than using the federated timeline, but there's also the benefit of being listed on more than one user directory which I imagine could help with discoverability when trying to network within multiple communities? I'm trying to find the balance here still. Twitter was a good place for me to build an audience and make connections that led to work and it seems like that's harder to do here?

@sbseltzer @AaronZA @realcaseyrollins @AaronZA@mastodon.gamedev.place Being in more than one place doesn’t really help discoverability. This place isn’t as focused on impressions and volume, but it does do a good job of building Stronger connections. If you try to use it like Twitter it will be painful. Instead use it like you’re in a new town. Hang out with the same folks, get to know each other, they’ll help you reach their folks when you need a visibility lift.

@realcaseyrollins @AaronZA @sbseltzer @AaronZA@mastodon.gamedev.place to clarify: it’s not useful having Alts that post the same type of thing. The best reason to have an alt is if you want to keep topics separated. This is from experience? At my peak I had 5 accounts on here! It actually felt more constraining, and I ended up just following the same folks because I didn’t want to miss them.I currently have just two: one that is “me”, personally and professionally, and one that is for a specific Community.
