Just realized I’m playing far too many games simultaneously. Currently partway through Pikmin 4, a second run of Baldur’s Gate 3 (Dark Urge this time), Sea of Stars, Armored Core VI, and have been poking at Dave the Diver and Goodbye Volcano High. Also got a reviewer key for a game that keeps pulling me back in. And Starfield is out now. Ack.

One of the kindest words of wisdom I received this year was "Your common knowledge is not common". While I'm a big believer that the best folks in any field still struggle with spikes of impostor syndrome, the phrase really helps put things in perspective.Each of us has uncommon "common knowledge". Things that might seem obvious to you, but are unique because of your skill, your experience, your path.

I wasn't convinced about MR when we first started talking about it, because of past experience working on and playing AR stuff, and have been very happy to see how NOT AR it is. Like yes, you can do AR like stuff. But with full FOV and composites. And you can go WAY beyond it.

Wanted to clarify something since someone asked about web3 as a topic here on PeopleMaking.Games.Our official rule for it reads “No NFTs, Crypto, or Web3 promotion. While these topics can be discussed at a distance, preferably behind CWs, if your primary reason for being here is to monetize via Web3 there are more suitable crypto-related instances available. NFTs may not be used in profile pictures.”Promotion is a key word there. While I definitely recommend using CWs if you’re talking about that category (as many users and instances are hypervigilant about any and all web3 discussions and will block you on a whiff), you are fine to discuss it, and even to discuss utilization of it.This rule comes from the fact that, for a certain cohort, web3 involvement looks a lot like a Ponzi or Pyramid scene, and there are a large number of bad actors within the sector who have been hooked in and desperately need to hook other people.
