@stux So you don't necessarily need to know their physical address? This could be useful information to advocate for better pay if your manager or company CEO makes significantly more money than other people at your job.

@stux Yeah it’s pretty nice. Before I was freelance, I used to check up on my colleagues before salary negotiations. Of course, it's not 100% accurate always, but a nice tool to have.

@stux as an American that is mind blowing. Do people in Finland like it? I’m not sure how I’d feel about it. I’m not secretive about my income but it would be weird to me to have it be so accessible by anyone.

@mansr @stux Actually you can get the exact income *before* tax. You just need to visit the closest tax office, go to one of those public computers, enter the region name, and first and last name of the person and you would see a table with all that info. You can also see if they have got some side-income and how much money they got from that too.The only catch is that you cannot get the tax info of the previous year, it is always one year behind.

@Penelope @stux still not democratic socialist, especially when the governments are social democratic at best. Finland has a centre-left coalition (with this being an exception as Finland has historically preferred grand coalitions that include centre-right and centre-left parties) between the Social Democratic Party, the Centre Party (agrarian), the Green League, the Left Alliance and the Swedish People's Party so it's far from democratic socialist.
