A piece of information about our @reuters account: We get posts from people who wonder if this account is real. We would like to point out that we always strive to verify our social media channels - however, such a process is currently not available at Mastodon. However, we will work to verify ourselves otherwise. At the moment we can only ensure this through our short links (reut.rs), since nobody else can generate Reuters links.

@reuters You can verify on your profile page. The instructions are right there!

@adamdavidson That is correct. We have already submitted our page, but we would also like to receive a verification tick. This is probably the safest for all users.

@reuters @adamdavidson you can just use a real=me tag to your website. Or better yet, run a personal instance hosted with your domain.

@pastelscute @reuters @adamdavidson Exactly, Reuters is big enough to run their own social.reuters.com instance for all of their employees. Having your actual domain there will verify to everyone that you are who you say you are.

@adam @pastelscute @reuters @adamdavidson Agreed. Reuters running their own server also allows for subscriber and employee safety and moderating disinformation. It's vital in today's world to protect against bad faith actors.
