       What is going to happen if Mastodon continues to grow exponentially? Will the servers cope with the strain? Will they have to start charging users? Generating ad revenue? Is this thing sustainable? The principle is great, but is there any plan for dealing with this huge influx?

This network is ~13,520 different communities, some of whom are getting an influx some of whom are not.  The 'plan' is people on servers that are overloaded need to start spinning up their own instances.  And as bugs are encountered, people need to fix them.  The load is shared so instead of one central point of failure needing to deal with them, issues are dealt with as they come up.>  Will they have to start charging users?
