Today I was at the #MetropolitanMuseumOfArt. This is Paul Pourer’s kimono-inspired dress from la Belle Epoque. Before Chanel, Poiret liberated women from corsets by I troducing these kind of relaxed, drapery dresses.

This is another kimono-inspired dress I liked. The sailor-ish collar is so pretty😍 (i don’t see this style at all with modern clothing…except for some Japanese school girls’ uniform). Circa 1920’s.

This was another kimono-inspired evening robe. I love the big long sleeves…so elegant.

This is more recent dress by Issey Miyake. He knew how to work with materials…spectacular. (Also a bit Halloweenesque.)

This one is by Hanae Mori from 1960’s. I love the contrast of orange, cream and subdued purple. Such a combination…but so elegant!!
