If they haven't already, Mastodon server admins and moderators should form a union/certification process that has a code of conduct policy and share block lists. That way users can jump between certified/member servers and know that the instance is well moderated. @tfardet @ajroach42

@1dalmare you refering to something like https://joinmastodon.org/covenant or specifically to sharing blocklists?Sharing them is a good idea, but in a federated setting, it won't prevent people from running into bad actors (even well moderated instances can get some from time to time) so I'd say the most important thing is to have an effective moderation team and there's not way to know that except by asking people you trust about the other instance you're interested in, is there?@ajroach42

@tfardet @ajroach42 Kind of like that, except I was thinking about something more formal, like a union. Facebook, Google, and Twitter all hire an army of moderators that do every day what Mastodon admins are being asked to do. The expectations of you guys is not sustainable and is going to quickly be exploited if the federated network really takes off. I was just trying to think of a way that the good guys can help each other out and provide some confidence to us users.

@1dalm @tfardet there are more fediverse instance moderators than Facebook moderation employees
