Japanese artists are having discoverability issues on Pixiv due to the overabundance of AI imagery.

"Cannot attach a video to a post that already has an image"That's one of the parts of the retarded side of the Mastodon software.

@hideki why did they even allow AI art in the first place (although i guess nothing stops people from just pretending its not AI art if its banned)

@hideki On August 13, 2018, Section 1051 of the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 (P.L. 115-232) established the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence as an independent Commission “to consider the methods and means necessary to advance the development of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and associated technologies to comprehensively address the national security and defense needs of the United States.” https://www.nscai.gov/about/ https://www.nscai.gov/commissioners/commissioner-bio/How Google’s former CEO Eric Schmidt helped write A.I. laws in Washington without publicly disclosing investments in A.I. startups https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/24/how-googles-former-ceo-eric-schmidt-helped-write-ai-laws-in-washington-without-publicly-disclosing-investments-in-ai-start-ups.htmlcopied from https://rentry.org/sdupdates2

@pipivovott i guess it doesn't really matter as long as it drives people to the site and spend money

@hideki It's especially annoying due to the sheer amount of content an AI generator can put out. They just need a few prompts, a few runs, and there's a hundred images ready to go. Even more prolific artists will manage maybe 5 proper pieces a week. So a small amount of AI posters can share as much as a massive amount of real artists.

@hideki There’s more AI than human art on pixiv being posted at this point. I thought it might burn itself out but it’s actually only got worse over time.

@hideki yet I can see posts from pleroma users with that, and more than just 4 photos. It's pretty lame :P

@beardalaxy yeah, it surely is a limitation that it's because of some kind of ideal of the programmer, because as you've said, the protocol doesn't really have that kind of limitation.

@hideki @beardalaxy It's literally just this way because that's the exact same thing Twitter does

@hideki It's also hard to filter out because Pixiv only lets you blacklist one tag without paying and none of them tag consistently, #AI, #AI-Generated #NovelAI, etc. Absolute garbage

@applejack @hideki @beardalaxy This sentence is honestly the reason for a lot of Masto’s completely unnecessary limitations :thinking_cirno:
