@zleap I love their guides. I starting using #LaTeX on my Calc tests in the online course. I’m currently reading through their LaTex in 30 min guide now. Hopefully this video can teach me about the platform itself!https://www.overleaf.com/learn/latex/Learn_LaTeX_in_30_minutes

@derickflorian We have a chem student at the STEM group, going to try and introduce her to \LaTeX\ as it makes typesetting chemistry and documents so much easier.

@zleap I can imagine that would make everything a breeze after fumbling around for a little bit. The learning curve has been worth it so far for me!I installed LiveTex so I could export LaTeX documents made in vs code. There were 4.4K packages it installed so I imagine there is something for every specialty. :)

@zleap Since we're in the #fediverse, when you're ready to graduate to something more decentralized, I recommend #TexStudio combined with self-hosted #Git on #gitolite I've had Overleaf go down hours before a grant deadline. My colleagues panicked, I had a copy of the proposal in my Git repo.https://www.texstudio.orghttps://gitolite.com/gitolite/index.html

@JensHannemann Good point, I have JabRef but not tex studio installed, so should do that. I have upgraded my account so should be able to push to github. I don't do much that is mission critical, just personal documents, my CV etc. As part of the Labs programme, I want to suggest they include gitlab integration, so we can link to other instances, partly as I maintaining a Debian presentation, so for the Debian people GitHub is depreciated over salsa.gitlab

@derickflorian @zleap You bet! I use it to produce nicely drawn circuit diagrams for my hardware class.

@JensHannemann do you use the same package for the diagrams you make? That’s so cool @zleap! That is something will be useful when I do take my circuit analysis classes down the road.

@derickflorian @JensHannemann No problem, it is good to share these resources, especially if useful.

@zleap @derickflorian And if you’re obsessed with units (hey, I’m a metric expat living in a non-metric country), I recommend the siunitx package.
