@james is there an option for a custom favicon for r.s? I'd like to pin tabs for my mastodon accounts but each server looks identical with the mastodon favicon.

@getajobmike @james I was just looking into this, as well. It's not in the admin options, unfortunately. 😕However, looks like there is a way to generate them from SVGs. https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/blob/0beb095a4bfbcce55acb016eaaa54b5e93a56023/lib/tasks/branding.rake#L36-L66Harder if you use that in a containerized environment or possibly if you're using hosted Mastodon, I imagine.

@jamie @getajobmike yeah, tricky. I am sure @mastohost would let us run some commands, but then they'd probably have to do that after _every_ Mastodon upgrade, not ideal.

@jamie @getajobmike some more context I found: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/7396#issuecomment-1144424447Looks like there's resistance against having instance-specific favicons.

@james @getajobmike I don't love that. The decentralized network isn't Mastodon alone. 😕 If you take that logic further, all ActivityPub servers should have the same favicon.I get that federation muddies the waters here, but the software is the least important thing here imo.

@jamie @getajobmike perhaps a compromise would be a custom #favicon that incorporates the mastodon logo somehow.Unfortunately I don’t think there’s any way to override it without fundamentally changing how the instance is hosted. I’ll chat to @mastohost about it.

@james @getajobmike @mastohost Yeah, once I saw it was hardcoded, I figured since I host my own I'll probably intercept favicon requests and point them at my own files before the requests even get to Mastodon.

@james Favicon is almost much the only thing I can override on my end. Ping me if you decide you want to change it.@jamie @getajobmike
