@ellenor i honestly appreciate it because the botnet wasn't good enough to log in but was good enough to show that it was still able to make connections which was something i thought i prevented

@jamof @ellenor @rats i didnt find it that hard to set up it just kind of sucks and there's nothing you can do about it. the way joining rooms is implemented just doesn't work for federation and is a miserable experience

@jamof @ellenor @animeirl i was avoiding synapse because running a server written in python is actually notably more of a headache on openbsd (because programs by default can't use w^x pages, so any language that uses a jit or anything requires special handling), + sounded bloated and generally a pain but dendrite was also a big painit was pain
