the way "federated" is either extremely exciting or weirdly off-putting reminds me of how "proprietary" is a real pejorative among my FOSS friends and a marketing world elsewhere

@xor I dunno how much of an "asset" it is to be under constant legal threat by the syndicate for everything you create and share. That's the problem with every fandom really. If you're lucky they'll ignore you, as long as you aren't successful or prosperous.

@cy oh lol I'm sorry I didn't hear mean the Orion Syndicate (or lol the Roddenberry Syndicate) or whatever! I meant the way the shows were in first-run syndication.

@xor Yeah, syndication, as in selling ideas as property to syndicates. The whole entertainment industry is all about syndicates! Syndicates everywhere!I dunno the exact relationship between syndicates (affiliates and TV stations) and "the network." The mafia comes to mind. <_<
