       @alltherum This is actually a good post, and the fact that it is addressed to those who are newer leads me to believe that it is made in good faith.A real problem with this is that a lot of people here - especially on the pleroma side of fedi - do not believe that their opponents are acting in good faith when they argue. It creates an ecosystem where *everyone* knows that their opponents are bad faith actors, and this degrades to the point where well meaning people simply hurl insults at the people they disagree with. I think a good number of people attempt to temper it when dealing with someone who isn't known to be a bad guy, but they're completely fine turning the heat on for someone who is absolutely known to be a bad guy.It is why journalists - who are known bad faith actors - have been met with extreme hate. Even the more temperate people know that journalists are awful people, and they want them out - forever. Like you, we do not want to interact with bad faith actors, and we don't want our friends interacting with them. That's why we would rather have journalists go back to Twitter, so that nobody here can be hurt by them.
