If I switch Mastodon instance, do you folks come with me, or do I have to harass all of you to follow me somewhere else (again)? #fediversen0obie

Had this query a few months back, but I don't post explicitly about FLOSS, and that (somewhat understandably) upsets some folks on this instance. Case in point, my recent post about Disney+ to which someone rightly replied: it's not open source. Ergo they might not want to see it on this instance. I don't want to be up-ending instance every week, losing your (much appreciated) follows in the process though! It's annoying when accounts do it, I know!

@omgubuntu because everyone treats it as a default instance. that one is simply too large for a healthy federated network. There are litereally thousands of instances out there. Just pick another one.Regarding your earlier question: all followers that are on mastodon 3.x themselves should automatically switch over when you move. This may take a few minutes, and some of them can even take hours (but this is automatic!)Users on other fediverse software does not get moved automatically.
