I manage a mailing list for a small group (~40 recipients). It is currently falling apart, because the mails bounce at gmail. I have no idea what to do about that. People won't switch to more sane mail providers. But this current situation clearly also does not work.

@Luca another thing one could look into: twitter lists! I have quite a few people on lists instead of the regular "follow" function. Those are accounts that I don't keep close tabs on, but where I sometimes go for inspiration or to pass some time with some specific topic.

@omgubuntu because everyone treats it as a default instance. that one is simply too large for a healthy federated network.There are litereally thousands of instances out there. Just pick another one.Regarding your earlier question: all followers that are on mastodon 3.x themselves should automatically switch over when you move. This may take a few minutes, and some of them can even take hours (but this is automatic!)Users on other fediverse software does not get moved automatically.

Go through all 8 of the image gallery! On my phone, I get ~half of them to scan in SecScanQR (F/LOSS QR scanner from @fdroidorg) and almost all of them inside my phone's camera app. Firefox URL entry box scans 5 out of 8.For me, most finicky are numbers 3, 4 and 8.

@aral this is at the top of the direct messages, Mastodon is very upfront about it (as it should be!)Another, IMO, less discoverable problem is, how easily one can compromise their own direct messages when they mention a third party by name - which apparently includes that third party in the conversation.
