So many on mastodon seem #AltText savvy which warms my heart! I have another #a11y tip for your toots: avoid emojis or using asterisks to censor/replace words. Screen readers read out the emoji and it may not be clear what word is being replaced. Asterisks are the same (it will read like gibberish). Also, those of us with #CognitiveDisabilities have a really rough time trying to figure out what you mean. Use the content warnings instead 🙂

@mothdust Oh! I hate the emoji language! I get that language is fluid, but.. there has to be a smarter way.

@adam yeah, I've never been a big fan of replacing words or whole sentences with emojis. I typically just tack an emoji on as an enhancer
