I'm a little scared to jinx it by saying anything, but I feel like mastodon might actually catch on this time. Every time I've looked at it before, I thought there just weren't enough people using it to produce the network effects that make sites like twitter and facebook appealing. Same story with diaspora. But this flood of new users might just do it.

@nuthaven My Twitter feed was a mix of OS/software/FLOSS folks, math people, and politics. I'm really only expecting to see the first category on here. Hopefully I'll be wrong, though.

@nuthaven yeah, maybe it will catch on. Might be a good thing if it can lower the "living in a bubble" factor that other platforms create.Migrated here back in 2020, and no regrets.I keep an eye on some bird accounts via RSS (via nitter instances).
