       Hearing people complain about Mastodon is weird and kinda annoying for many of us GenX kids. We ventured beyond @AOL@twitter.com to see and build all those early sites on the decentralized World Wide Web. It wasn't super simple, but totally worth it. C'mon people. #fediverse

       @wjmaggos This GenX kid never wanted to be a programmer. I want the tools to work for my needs and what happens under the hood can be magic for all I care. Put me in a molecular biology lab if you need me to tinker.

       @wjmaggos It can feel like it! I signed up on desktop and had a heck of a time getting the app on my phone to let me log in and not set up a new account. It kept insisting I pick a server before moving forward, even though I JUST wanted to log in. It will get easier with time. But it is NOT intuitive. New things are not universally easy for everyone. What seems obvious to one person is a mystery to another.

       @kawherp I get that but lots of people are willing to help. I just wish they'd reach out before bad mouthing the experience. what's tough is that there's a network effect. we're reliant on lots of other people using it too to make it worth using for lots of people. ugh.

       @kawherp there's been people reaching out on Twitter. I think people should cross post every time but focus on using that place to try to get people to at least create an account they regularly use here. Once we hit critical mass, that place becomes unnecessary. and Poof!
