       @rob @safiuddinkhan What many don't realize is that they liked the fediverse because they didn't have to deal with users from the Twitter world. Now that they're coming over, the fediverse is about to get worse.

       @james @safiuddinkhan The technical barrier can also backfire and end up putting off many of the new users attempting to give mastodon a try. Most people are probably going to gravitate towards the flagship instances like mastodon.social. I have an account there and that instance has been pretty unresponsive and laggy lately under the load of this exodus if users flocking from the bird. Unless the experience is on par with what they are used to, Mastodon will end up leaving a bad taste in their mouths.

       @james @rob @safiuddinkhan I think there's a huge improvement in the tools here that will make the same people as Twitter on Mastodon less of a problem. Between both your own tools and admins being able to drop entire servers of people, I doubt it'll ever get nearly as toxic as a single network that's profit motivated not to kick people off it.
