This week I leveraged pandas and openpyxl to perform calculations on U.S. Census Bureau's Household Pulse survey releases. To my knowledge the results are only available in Excel format. In the past I've written VBA scripts for this sort of thing, but now my scripts can easily work across spreadsheets to e.g. draw comparisons in people reporting they sometimes or often don't have enough to eat from month to month or year to year. For these kinds of applications Python lets me get from vision to a workable solution so quickly.
