Signups are closed now on mstdn.social for now! Invites still work ofcourse so if you want your friends over that's still possible :cat_hug_triangle: But since we've hit server cap limit at the moment it's a better choice to spread the load over other instances :blobcathearts: It's still the Fediverse so it doesn't really matter on what instance you are :fediverse:

@stux so I’ve been thinking about what good fediverse citizenship looks like, and whether there’s an obligation to spread the load and/or run our own instance if we can, to make the system more resilient and reduce the labour we put on folks who find themselves as hubs. Right now there is that “everyone in the kitchen at a party” thing where folks clump together out of instinct but not sure it is ideal or needed behaviour

There are many different servers (we call instances) out there that make up the network we call Fediverse (Federated Universe) You are on mstdn.social but can also follow people from mastodon.social or mastodon.online for example! It doesn't matter on what server you are

Duidelijk. @stux doet vreselijk z'n best (chapeau daarvoor) maar mstdn.social heeft en houdt nog wel even problemen met de servercapaciteit. Is het dan niet beter als een deel van de gebruikers naar een andere instance verhuist? Niet omdat ik @stux' inspanningen niet waardeer, maar om ruimte te maken. En heeft iemand een goede tip voor een 'algemene' instance, liefst met veel Nederlandstalige donnies, waar die ruimte nog in voldoende mate voorhanden is?
