       In other news Napier City Council has announced Beam e-scooters are going to start operating here. We haven’t any hire scooters at all here so this could be fun. Keen to take one for a spin. Already seeing grumbling from the locals 😬

       @drewThere are some legitimate gripes about e-scooter hire services. I've seen a full life cycle assessment that concludes they do net harm to both the environment and human health, due to mainly displacing walking, cycling, and self-powered scooting, rather than car journeys. Dead batteries are an issue. Hire services with plain old bikes are better on both counts.Then there's the exploitative gig worker aspect when it comes to collecting and charging them. #EScooters #GigEconomy@brena
